Łańcut - it all started here

Our brand was officially established in 2008, but the history of the excellent tailoring associated with it dates back to earlier times. Łańcut is a charming, small town located in southern Poland, it has long been famous for the beautiful castle of the Lubomirski and Potocki families, a music festival as well as, and perhaps above all, for its excellent tailor's workshop and good craft schools. It is here that the country-famous tailor shop at Podzwierzyniec street. Over the years, the building changed owners and the fate of the sewing room itself was full of ups and downs, at the turn of the century, the specter of bankruptcy faced the plant. In the early 2000s, it was purchased from the trustee by Mr. Michał Ciąpała and his son, and the current president of LANCERTO S.A. Tomasz Ciąpała, began restructuring.

–I noticed a few things. Initially, I decided that instead of creating a brand, it is better to switch to sewing for others. So we won sewing contracts for big players from Europe, including Germany, England and France –
recalls Tomasz Ciąpała – thanks to contacts, commitment of employees and experience, we quickly gained unprecedented know-how at that time.

The Łańcut sewing plant was also thriving on the Polish market, providing services to smaller and larger entities. This is how the paths of Tomasz and the other two founders of LANCERTO, Mariusz Jończy and Tomasz Górkiewicza, who were customers of the sewing room, joined together. At the sale of men's clothing, they “ate their teeth”.

- We had an excellent production plant and skilled craftsmen. They're five running stores. And they were the only ones who always paid in advance. I thought - let's make a brand together
– recalls Ciąpała.

Jończy and Górkiewicz learned business as franchisees by running stores in Wadowice and Pszczyna city. Then they started to invest in outlets together - first in Sosnowiec, then in Ursus and Gdańsk. They started looking for goods in Łańcut. The factory in Łańcut had piles of high-quality suits, and they had a remarkable talent for selling them.

- We were phenomenal sellers. We stood behind the counter ourselves, so we know how to talk to the client. At Lancerto, we also don’t manage from behind the desk. I drive around shops, talk, motivate, look for solutions
– explains Mariusz Jończy. Vice president and shareholder of Lancerto responsible for sales.

The third partner and vice-president - Tomasz Górkiewicz is responsible for the selection of materials and patterns as well as building the collection. Officially, in 2008, the LANCERTO brand was created from the combination of the knowledge and experience of three shareholders. The beginnings of the business were not easy, it was necessary to fight for each client and each new location in fashionable shopping centers.

- The entrepreneurs in our industry include show horses and workhorses. We belong to the latter category – says president Tomasz Ciąpała. - We do not build a fashion brand to tickle our own ego. We want to create a solid business and offer our customers what we can do best - an excellent product with the best service you can imagine – he adds.

Today, LANCERTO stores are visited by a million customers annually. Our clothes and accessories are available in over 40 shopping centers in 32 largest Polish cities, as well as in the online store and on popular sales platforms.

You didn't know about it!

The name LANCERTO refers to the best models of men's fashion straight from Milan. The first part of the name - 'Lanc' refers to Łańcut - a place,
where the company's headquarters and production plant are located. It’s here that, thanks to a team of talented designers, cutters and tailors, miracles of tailoring crafts are created.
The ending 'certo' has several meanings, it's in Italian: of course, sure! but it can also mean something real, certain - this is how customers should feel in our clothes.
